BRBJ Maintains Ongoing Relationship with UNCA Athletics

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Blue Ridge Bone and Joint (BRBJ) and UNC Asheville representatives are very pleased to announce today that Blue Ridge Bone & Joint will continue to serve as the Official Orthopedic Physicians of UNC Asheville Athletics. Blue Ridge Bone and Joint physicians have been the UNC Asheville Athletics team physicians for over a decade.

"Blue Ridge Bone and Joint has done a great job with our student-athletes these many years. We look forward to our ongoing relationship to ensure optimal orthopedic care for the welfare of our student-athletes," said Janet R. Cone, senior administrator for university enterprises and director of athletics. "Dr. Jay Jansen (a BRBJ sports medicine fellowship trained orthopedist) and all the Blue Ridge Bone & Joint physicians have been an invaluable part of the Bulldog team. We are especially proud to also be working with our own women’s soccer alumna, Dr. Pam Allen (a BRBJ foot & ankle fellowship trained orthopedist)."

The multi-year agreement prolongs and enhances the very successful healthcare partnership between UNC Asheville Athletics and Blue Ridge Bone and Joint by adding a BRBJ relationship with the North Carolina Center for Creative Retirement (NCCCR).

Blue Ridge Bone and Joint’s Dr. Jay Jansen commented, “Our primary interest in the UNCA relationship has been providing excellent musculoskeletal care to these gifted and dedicated athletes. Coincidentally, during these many years of service to UNCA athletes, the entire BRBJ physician team (nineteen physicians) has made great friends with many members of the larger UNCA family. Now, together, we will expand our focus of full motion living to a broader segment of our friends and neighbors through the Center for Creative Retirement.”
