Dr. Peter Mangone officially named AOFAS organization RUC representative

2/7/12 -- Dr. Peter Mangone was officially named the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle  Society (AOFAS) representative to the AMA-RUC.  As defined by the American Medical Association, "the AMA formed the AMA/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC) to act as an expert panel in developing relative value recommendations to CMS."  This committee helps to advise Medicare as to the relative work value for individual procedures physicians perform in all specialties.  Dr. Mangone will serve as an advisor to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the AMA-RUC regarding issues involved in reimbursement discussions for physician work value in foot and ankle procedures.  Prior to this appointment, Dr. Mangone had served as the alternate representative to this same committee for the last 2 years.  Further information regarding the AMA-RUC can be found at http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/physician-resources/solutions-managing-your-practice/coding-billing-insurance/medicare/the-resource-based-relative-value-scale/the-rvs-update-committee.page
