BRBJ Sponsors Transylvania Youth Council Golf Tournament

Blue Ridge Bone and Joint is proud to have been a sponsor for the Transylvania Youth Council Golf Tournament, played on July 27, 2011 at the Glen Cannon Country Club in Brevard NC. Our sponsorship contributed to the hole-in-one prize on the 17th hole, a 2012 Buick Lacrosse. Unfortunately, no one hit a hole-in-one on number 17 to claim the prize.

North Carolina Occupational Health Nurse Association

Dr. Goebel was a guest speaker at the annual North Carolina Occupational Health Nurse Association Meeting on March 17, 2011.  He discussed the evaluation and treatment of the injured worker with low back conditions.  His thoughts and comments were well received by the more than 100 attendees.

BRBJ sponsors Shamrock 5K/10K Run 3/12/11

Blue Ridge Bone and Joint Clinic is the main sponsor for the Asheville Catholic School 5th Annual Shamrock 5K/10K Run on March 12, 2011.  In addition to financial support provided by the physicians, Dr. Michael Shea and Dr. Peter Mangone along with physical therapist Mike Piercy will be on-site for the event to help with anyone needing assistance with injury or illness.  This is just one of many community events Blue Ridge Bone and Joint Clinic sponsors in the Asheville/Hendersonville area as we strive to keep our community Full Motion Living.

Talk on Dupuytren’s Disease, April 19th

I will be giving a talk on Dupuytren’s Disease on Tuesday, April 19th at 12:30 pm in the Pardee Health Education Center at the Blue Ridge Mall in Hendersonville. Dupuytren’s Disease is a thickening of the tissue in the palm of the hand that can cause the fingers to contract into the palm.  Dr. Napoli will talk about the condition as well as treatment options, from traditional surgery to the latest minimally invasive techniques.  The public is welcome.  The talk is free.  Please call (828) 692-4600 to RSVP.

Dr. Jansen on Evening Rounds

Dr. Allen Attends UNCA's Breakfast with Athletes

Dr. Pam Allen, one of the three fellowship trained foot & ankle physicians in western North Carolina who practice exclusively at Blue Ridge Bone & Joint, recently attended the University of North Carolina Asheville’s Athletic Department Breakfast with Athletes.  At the October 26, 2010 meeting Dr. Allen shared her personal experiences of “success – on and off the field.”  Dr. Allen, a 1997 UNCA graduate also played collegiate soccer for UNCA’s women’s soccer team.

Dr. Jansen Presents at County Meeting

Dr. Jay Jansen, one of the two fellowship trained sports medicine and general orthopedic physicians at Blue Ridge Bone & Joint’s Asheville office recently attended the Buncombe County administrative team meeting.  At the October 21, 2010 meeting Dr. Jansen presented on the subject of sports nutrition, hydration and performance to Buncombe County athletic coaches.  Dr. Jansen characterized the meeting as an excellent opportunity to continue to expand the coaches’ knowledge about sports medicine and oversight management of their athletes.

Dr. Michael Goebel, one of two fellowship trained spine and general orthopedic physicians at Blue Ridge Bone & Joint’s Asheville office, attended the North American Spine Society meeting on October 5, 2010 in Orlando, FL.  Dr. Goebel characterized the meeting as an excellent opportunity to continue to expand on his knowledge about current and future orthopedic spine treatments.
