Blue Ridge Bone and Joint Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Robert Boykin, has recently published an article in a leading European Scientific Journal, Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy (KSSTA).  The report describes the use of two cutting edge biologic therapies, platelet rich plasma and bone marrow aspirate, to heal a hip capsule injury in a European professional soccer player. Dr. Boykin and co-authors have presented one of the first reports of using these treatments for a soft tissue injury around the hip in a high level athlete.

As a sports medicine fellowship trained surgeon, Dr. Boykin specializes in disorders of the shoulder, knee, and hip and is actively involved in research in these areas.
