EmergeOrtho: Blue Ridge Region offers the CurveBeam LineUP system, which is a standing CT imaging device. While the patient must lie down in traditional computed tomography (CT) imaging, the standing CT allows for the orthopedic doctor to see a patient’s weight-bearing view.
The standing CT imaging system takes hundreds of two-dimensional images of the anatomy and processes them as one exact three-dimensional digital replica of the bones and joints. The machine provides doctors with an accurate depiction of the patient’s knee, foot, ankle, hand, wrist, or elbow condition.
Lasting from 30 to 60 seconds, this imaging tool helps doctors with pre-planning implant surgeries, helping to ensure a higher rate of accuracy when placing screws, plates, and replacement joints. Doctors can also accurately detect and assess arthritic joints, bone erosion, and weight-bearing conditions, such as bunions or flat feet.
The scan has minimal radiation exposure, less than the average American is exposed to in a normal day. We do everything we can to keep you as comfortable as possible with our safe CT system.
